This popular
song won Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, as well
as Best Male Pop Vocal performance for singer-songwriter Eric Clapton
in 1996. It was also featured in the 1996 movie, Phenomenon.
In the song, the performer expresses his desire to
communicate his love to a woman. This love, he fears, will go unreturned
without a drastic change in his life. He believes that change alone can
allow for a meaningful relationship between them and for their lives to
move forward and connect.
This is true in all aspects of life. Only when you are
willing to change, to evolve and to grow does your life attain any
semblance of meaning. So, if you are wondering why your existence seems
monotonous and gray, perhaps it is time to do something else. Change
does not have to be drastic, even small changes can lead to big
discoveries.
