There were 18 of us InService during the ONE VOICE/I'M ALIVE event in Tanzania on August 16. We were all very excited and keen to be there and be part of it.  Security (6 InService), Registration (4), Set-up (4), Hospitality (2), Music/AV (1) and Programme (1) departments were prepared and debriefed prior to the event. Our highest priorities were the Security for VP Donna Imson and VC Angela Fadil and problem-free registration and security for participants.

We did the InService briefing meeting as early as August 12 to prepare ourselves for the event. We took care of the seating set-up and other arrangements in the venue and the VIP holding area the night before.  We also made sure to test all audio and video clips and to rehearse the play times so that everything goes smoothly and achieves the desired effect.

All InService were asked to report at 6:30am on August 16th for the registration.  Tickets for the event were pre-sold, although there were also those who were walk-in participants who bought tickets at the venue and we made sure they were properly taken care of.

We faced a couple of minor setbacks with the microphones and the registration. We had arranged for 4 microphones for the event, but during rehearsal testing we found out that we could not use all 4 without getting audio feedback and interference which was bound to be very distracting. We ended up using 2 microphones: 1 for the speakers and 1 for the participants. It worked very well.

Another concern was that some of the participants had paid in advance for the event but had shown up without their tickets. This was easily remedied by checking the list of names of those who had pre-paid for the tickets.

Overall, the I'm Alive event was amazing and everything went perfectly.
